pinchi and me think that if the diablo´s fans could have the diablo III we can have Blade 2, we need it!

we need a send emails to friendware , this spanish guy work in friendware, but I dont know if he can speak with the enterprise :S

...there's a bit of difference between Diablo3 and Blade2 though. Just looking at how good Blizzard and Diablo titles are doing. I mean, pressing D3 out of Bliz probably wasn't that hard.

Ok i send a mail requesting for Blade 2 or the Blade 1 source code, lets see if they say something.

But we need to find some more peaple in other forums, not only in here, i will put a link to this thread in my Sig in other forums, all the BOD fans will like to see it.

Well it's much as we expected really. But I'm not sure what could actually be done with the source code if it were available. It would be useful to have some of the *.max files for the char models, but as for tweaking the engine stuff.......

There is still a lot of scope for new stuff with the code that is accessible.

1º- Make the engine to be able to use high resolution textures.

2º- Be able to render more polys, be able to resolve the bugs that only with the source code can be resolved, like some of the physics bugs.

3º- Maybe even be able to implement pixel and vertex shaders.

Like the guys that made normal maping and dynamic light be used by the old Quake 1 engine.

Maybe you can use hi-res textures. All the 'world' textures are 256x256 but maybe it will work with 512 or even 1024. I will try it sometime. It would make the compiled texture (.mmp) file absolutely massive.

As for the physics stuff, does anyone have the abilities to tackle the job? (pass )

One nice tweak I thought of was to have the capability to be able to add ambient effects to the sounds. So that footsteps will echo when you walk into a big hall, etc. Cooooooooooooool or what?

But what really needs doing is getting the online play feature working how it should. Why it was never improved I will never know. It would have made the game MASSIVE.

I can't help wondering what the abandoned X-Box version would have been like.

people,people,enought with this joy until now from what i have read of yours messages bellow you have a little problem and we need to fix it,i don't mean only a few of us but the entire comunnity of bod fans that is on this forum,and we could make things easier if we would come with some ideas for the scenario for bod2,and after that sent the message that you all talk aboutto some companies that may be interesed,because i know that someone will help us,if we failled once we can try again and again and again until someone will be interesed think about this please because i'm a fanati bod player as all of you and we need to do something about this,enought with all the maps and mods cause all they do is to ruin the bod history

The whole BoD2 thing is not going to happen. I remember gorgons topic about it? It still stands. The mods and map created by the members here are the only form of a new BoD game that will ever be released. Live with it.

No not only for graphical improvements but with out a good coder that is perhaps the "only" thing that you could do with the source code, i´m no coder but i think that is not so ease to improve or to make a new multiplayer code. But perhaps if we have the luck to have the souce code some coder will want to give it a go.

Why don´t you ask them .

What do you think about to try to buy the source code by our own, "the community". we can all to try to get a deal with old RAS members and try to buy it, if we can find miles of Modders all over the world who want to have and entire source code of a game with good engine to do their own projects maybe we could get it.

I'll send an email to Juan Diaz Bustamante to see what he says and how much could cost that source code.

I think we are talking mega-bucks here. It's not just the source code
itself but the rights to use it for commercial purposes.
I would be more than happy if some (or all) of the original model files in *.max format were released, especially character models. Some of the map source files were included (accidentally?) in some issues of the game.
Be good if the rest of them were available. I know that some model source files were released in the early days. Where did Reality3D get the Barb/Espada models to feature in the 3D tutorial?

Perhaps if you asked Juan very nicely and said a big pleeeeeeeeeeease
he might let us have the model files.

Or maybe Friendware are not so keen to support the community now that they are not actively marketing the game.
