Creating and using skins

Post by shoprat »

Ran across another post written by Psy about changing Rynn's armor.

Creating and using your own skin in a level

Well, the first thing you would need to do to create your own skin, if you haven't already done; Download the Rynn Mp REC's. Secondly, extract everything in the zip file to a single folder. Open that folder, and there should be four folders inside it: Plate, Banded, Dragon, and Scale. Pick which one you would like to change the design of. Then, in a graphics editing program, you open each bitmap file in that folder (the folder of the armor that you picked) and edit them how you want to.

Next thing to do is open your level in the level editor. Go to the 'Databases' window, and click on the 'Models' tab. Right click your mouse somewhere on the white rectangle (where folder groups and classes are found). On the dropdown menu, mouse over 'build' and on the next menu select 'Add Child Group'. (Note: If you already have groups in there, and don't want this group to be put into one of the existing groups, you must select 'Add Sibling Group'). Right Click on this new group that you have made and mouse over 'build' on the dropdown menu. On the next menu mouse over 'model', and on the next menu select 'Add'. Select the three *.rec files that were in the folder of which you picked to edit it's skins.

Next, to use the skins you must go to the 'classes' tab which is found on the 'databases' window, and in a certain group, create a new class and select it's type as armor and it's model as 'MP-Dragon Rack', found in Multiplayer Common > Armor > database group. Once you have done this, edit all the class properties to suit you, then on the bottom of the three tabs in this class (Armor) look at it's second class; Armor Model. Double click and select the model of your armor (must be the *.rec model that had a (h) in it's filename). Once you have done so, you can put the armor class anywhere in the level, and when a player picks it up they'll be wearing it (unless they already have a stronger one).
