About this site The Order of the Sword is a non commercial fan site for Codemasters PC computer game, Severance / Blade of Darkness. Please feel free to browse the site and participate in the forum where you can chat with other Severance / Blade of Darkness players. News
Esfumato has sent in a new map for the Gladiator mod plus a new Knight skin. I haven't tried the files but you can go ahead and download them on the maps page. As always please read the readme file as Esfumato mentioned that there are both Spanish and English versions.
Seem as public interest in the game has trailed off almost to the point of no existence (shame) and the community is getting smaller and smaller I have removed the fan fiction, and art / desktop pages as nobody looked at them and they were taking up space. However its not all bad news, Legolas has released two new maps which you can download from the maps page which should revive a bit of life into the game.
Things seem to have been very quiet in the BOD community although I have seen a few new members on the forums recently and a couple of new fan sites have sprung up. The most recent fan site is made by copperman who posts on the forums quite often. His site can be found here.
A new game fan site! This one, called Severance Slashed is still under construction but eventually it should turn out to be a useful site. You can go to the site here.
I removed all the dead links on the site as a few fan sites have changed or have been closed down not to mention the official game site. Anyway, If you have a fan site for the game, please email me and Ill add it to the links page. There was a good LED tutorial somewhere but it appears to have gone...
Rebel Act dead? There has been lots of rumours lately that Rebel Act Studios will be closing its doors due to bankruptcy. These rumours look like they are true, first of all the forum disappeared and Juan did not answer emails then the entire RAS site has disappeared. This almost certainly means that the sequel to Severance / Blade of Darkness is cancelled unless another game company picks it up. However, its not all bad news, the 3 members of RAS that left to create their own company, Digital Legends Entertainment will more than likely be setting on some of ex RAS employees. who knows, maybe they will finish BOD2 after their game is complete? I want to try and add some content to this site, particularly single player map reviews and info to make the game last longer. So, if you are interested in reviewing maps or want to contribute in any way, please email me. Please note that I cannot host the maps themselves due to webspace restrictions.
Whilst checking out a few BOD sites that are out there, I came across some new add on levels, one for the Gladiator mod and 3 single player ones. The latest one, Heresy is a cool map; there are a lot of talented game fans in the community so why don't you go and download some extra levels and extend your game's lifespan!
Now here is where I need your help; I don't have much time to work on the site anymore and I originally planned to have a map reviews section but I never got round to making one. So, If you want to review community maps, please send them to me together with at least one screenshot (winzipped please!) and I will see what I can do. Please don't send me any reviews of maps from the original game, only player created ones.
I redesigned the site slightly; I have changed the menu navigation panel on the left to improve compatibility with Netscape Navigator. This is because Netscape version 4.x does not support cascaded style sheets properly. It looks OK now in NS4.7 and NS6. Please let me know if you are having problems viewing the site.
Yawn! I'm getting bored with this, where is everybody? I mean the official forums are very quiet and nobody has posted in my forums for over 3 months; has everyone lost interest in the game or is there another forum they've all disappeared to that I don't know about? Oh yeah anyway, whilst doing a brief check of the official forums, I found that there is a new single player level available for Severance / Blade of Darkness. Its a very small map ideal for practicing your skills called 'Defender' by a Spanish player, Goosebrush. You can download it here.
If you know of any news related to the game including new levels, please tell me by using the submit news link on the left.
Also by now, you have probably noticed that this site has moved. The old address still redirects to here but the old site will eventually be taken down. Please use the new address from now on.
New single player map! This is another 'proper' single player map, i.e one that is not for the gladiator mod. The level is made by a Spanish player, Raziel and the map is called 'Namiur' Currently the level is only 15% complete but you can download the latest beta here This looks like its going to be a cool level when its finished!
The Order of the Sword was off line for a week or so due to virus attacks on my internet account, I was constantly being emailed the Sircam virus amongst others. This forced me to change my email address which also resulted in this site being deleted. It wasn't intentional so Doh! to that one. Anyway, Freeola sucked so I have moved the site here. The forum was closed by the providers due to inactivity more or less at the same time, so they can sod off too as I have set up a much improved, new forum here. This server is fast and reliable as I've been using it for a while to host other fan sites. If there is any news that's happened over the last week or so that you feel is important to mention here, please email me. I have been working late recently and I have been away from the BOD community for a while.

New MP level! As far as I know, this is the first multiplayer PCL for Severance / Blade of Darkness. Its called 'spire' and you can download it in the maps section.
3 members of Rebel act leave to create their own company - Xavier Carrillo (Project Manager), Jose Luis Vaello (Art Director) and Angel Cuñado (engine programmer) have left Rebel act to found their own company, Digital Legends Entertainment. I don't know what effect this will have on BOD2 but I guess Rebel act will do a good job of it anyway, furthermore we can look forward to some more good (PC?) games from the ex RAS team. You can check out the forum thread here which explains all.
Secondly, if you didn't catch the last news about the forum, I have set up a new, faster forum so go ahead and post something!
I finally got round to updating this site! I've been really busy latley but I have checked around in the community and found out a couple of things. First of all, Josh over at Blade mods has created a new version of his multiplayer game search tool. Older versions don't work anymore so go download it to play online! Secondly there are two new levels available for the gladiator mod. Check them out in the maps section.
I have set up a new forum as the other one was way too slow; I have gone for an external forum because this web server simply isn't fast enough to support stuff like forums. The old one can still be reached at www.orderofthesword.uk8.net/cgi-bin/UltraBoard/UltraBoard.cgi but new posts will not be allowed. The forum links on this site now link to the new forum which you can use instead.
Phileosophos has written a back story to Severance / BOD. It fits in before the game's back story to explain things better and to set the scene during the game. You can read it here
First single player level! This is a beta version though but you can grab it in the maps section.
Also the site has its first fan art which was submitted by Tommaso De Felip from Italy. I hope we see more art from him in the future, it looks great! Check it out in the art and desktops section.
