Tips, help, walkthroughs etc.

Multiplayer A few people have asked about playing Severance online; well to be honest the game was never designed for internet play, it is meant for playing over a local area network. Online play IS possible but you have to obtain an IP address of your opponent - there are currently no online servers such as Gamespy, Mplayer etc. To do this, simply contact the person you want to play against and one of you hosts and the other is the client. The host has to give his IP address to the client so he / she can connect. Many players post invitations to battles on the rebel act studios forum so that would be your first place to go. Most players use ICQ to chat to each other as it is a more convenient way to invite opponents. A word of warning though: online play is only viable if you have a fast internet connection; 56K modem and ISDN users forget it. Now that the patch has been released, Gamespy support has been added to the game, but however, there is a snag - Gamespy don't support Severance / BOD ( as of 9/5/01).
Single Player Actiontrip's game guide and walkthrough - one of the few remaining walkthroughs for the game in text file format available to download. Cheats I discovered these whilst screwing around with the game files. I found a file called cheats.py and I was wondering how to get them to work. Eventually, I managed to get them working but sometimes, they don't seem to work; it seems to be a problem with certain save game slots. I haven't been able to find a way around this but if you want to try out these cheats follow the steps below:- 1) Open the scripts folder in your severance / BOD installation folder and create a folder called 'backups'. Locate the file menu.py and copy it into the backup folder. This is so if you mess it up you can restore the backup without re-installing the game. 2) Open menu.py with windows notepad and add the following code to the end of the file. This is very important that you place it at the end or your game won't work at all. import cheats 3) Load up a save game and use the following to activate the cheats. The cheats are even saved with a savegame so that when you next load that save, you don't have to reactivate the cheats. Note that you have to enter the cheats from the journal screen, that is press F1, enter cheat and press F1 again. You should see a confirmation message. F5 - Move camera left F6 - Move camera right F7 - Not sure what this does F8 - Next experience level F9 - Skip current level and go to the next F10 - Toggle invulnerability on / off G - Create a lightsabre Starwars style! K - Activate the lightsabre - you may need to cycle weapons before it will show in place of your sword. H - Cut off your own head then wander round headless! X - 'The Matrix' gore effect. M - When pressed, this enables your character to change skins. To use, press 'F1', press 'M' then press a number from 1 to 6 then press 'F1' to exit and hey presto your character will have a new skin! - Thanks to John Sheckells for this tip!
