Recognize this Orc?

Post by Limpiacobardes »

This ilustration was made by artist Angus McBride. To me, the little fella who appears in it looks quite familiar isn´t?
You can see more of McBride´s work here http://www.aumania.it/fa_mcbride1.html

Another inspiration for Blade was HeroQuest a table game. The Orc Sword that appears on the game was exactly to the sword that the figure of the orcs had in the game.

Angus McBride (b. 1931 - d, 15 May 2007) was a well-known historical and fantasy illustrator.
Born in London to Highland Scots parents, Angus McBride was orphaned as a child when his mother died when he was five, and his father in World War Two when he was twelve.

[:D] On pic 003 there is an orcsword exactly like the Blade version. Also what appears to be a Wall Shield.

Another of what i believe was an inspiration for Blade, is a movie that i hope many of you remember, made by the amazing special effects artist Ray Harryhausen!

The skeletons are very similar, that the ones that appear in the game.

Those images are from the late Angus McBride's LOTR work. I'm pretty sure that was the only fantasy related work that he produced, the bulk being illustrations for historical text books.

The Orc is pretty much an exact match for the Orcs in the game, the sword also. The wall shield in 003 is indeed almost an exact match, much of the weapons are the same. I believe that I have read somewhere that BoD contains a lot of plaigarised materials including much of the soundtrack.

That axe carried by the figurine to the left of the minotaur is also exactly the same as the dwarf's first axe in the game.

There is an old saying that goes:

"Plagarism is copying from one person's work. Copying from more than one is Research".

here comes my "research"[B)]

The soundtrack for Blade was originally composed by Oscar Araujo, and he IS on the credits of the game (as you may remember, there are others who are not...)

http://www.oscararaujo.com/

"Ironically" it was his music the one that was heavy plagiarised, as esfumato, i also don't know how many times I've heard some bits of Blade in spots, series and whatever, the fall of Rebel Act attracts many carrion feeders...

this one its not directly, but it has something...tell me what you think
The famous illustrator of Conan; Frank Frazetta
