I live in Chicago, Illinois, and I like playing tennis, videogames, and listening to techno music. This is my first guide. I got into the game Drakan, Order of the Flame a few years ago, and I got hooked. And one day, I decided to make an FAQ about it! There are many other good walkthroughs out there, so I'm not going to bother much about the actual game itself. Instead, this is a guide to the various weapons and items that you'll come across while playing. ----------------------------------------------- 2. About this game ----------------------------------------------- Drakan, Order of the Flame is an action PC game released in 1999. It involves the adventure of Rynn, a young woman whose brother was captured by evil wartoks. During her quest to find him, she awakens the ancient dragon Arokh, and he becomes her companion for the rest of the quest. ----------------------------------------------- 3. Guide to Weapons ----------------------------------------------- This is the guide to all the weapons. The format goes like this. It is sorted into different categories based on the weapon type. Weapon Damage Speed Range Durability Tips and Additional Info Enjoy! ----------------------------------------------- 3a. Swords ----------------------------------------------- Atimar's Blade Damage: 5 Speed: Fast Range; Short Indestructible This is the first weapon that Rynn acquires. It is also the weakest. However, it is one of 3 indestructibles that you will find throughout the game. Use it to break barrels that can damage your other weapons. Mithril Short Sword Damage: 10(AP) Speed: Fast Range: Short 100/100 This is the first armor piercing weapon that you will find. It is very good early on, with twice the power of Atimar's Blade. It's also pretty durable, and will last a long time. Scimitar Damage: 10 Speed: Fast Range: Short 100/100 This weapon isn't found until a bit later in the game. By then your Mithril Short Sword will probably have broken. This will do nicely as a replacement fast weapon, however it lacks armor piercing. Long Swords Damage: 15(Mithril has AP) Speed: Medium Range: Medium XXX/150 (I put them in to one category because all types have identical stats except for durability.) These will be some of your most useful weapons around the middle of the game, because there will be many of them scattered around. Some will have a lower durability (hence XXX), and the rare mithril ones have armor piercing. Speed and reach are middle of the line. All in all a good all-around weapon. Great Sword Damage: 20 Speed: Slow Range: Long 150/150 This will most likely be your most used weapon. It does a fair amount of damage and has a long reach so that enemies sometimes can't touch you as you attack. Mithril Great Sword Damage: 25(AP) Speed: Medium Range: Long 150/150 This weapon is even better than the average Great Sword because it does more damage, is faster, and has armor piercing. When you find it you will be using it until it breaks. Sting Damage: 30(AP) Speed: Fast Range: Short 25/100 Here is a weapon from LOTR that you will find in Drakan. It does a lot of damage, and has armor piercing. However, it has a low durability and will break quickly. It is still a great weapon during the short time that you will be using it. Giant Slayer Damage: 25 Speed: Medium Range: Long 75/75 This is nearly the same as a Mithril Great Sword, except that it doesn't pierce armor and has only half the durability. It should be tossed the moment you find the Mithril Great Sword. Sword of Flame Damage: 15(AP) Speed: Medium Range: Medium 150/150 This sword can be obtained by doing a side quest from a farmer. It is like a long sword, but with armor piercing, and a secondary attack that makes a wave of fire come out of it. Also, when you strike an enemy with it, they are set on fire and that does extra damage. Flaming Sword Damage: 20(AP) Speed: Medium Range: Long 30/30 This can only be obtained by defeating a Fire Knight. It is like the Sword of Flame, but with much lower durability, and more power. Sword of Ice Damage: 15(freeze) Speed: Slow Range: Long 150/150 This weapon is found in the middle stages of the game. It does not kill enemies, but freezes them into ice, so if you hit the frozen enemy, it shatters into pieces. It also has a secondary spell that makes a defensive circle of ice around you. Dark Scimitar Damage: 20(AP) Speed: Medium Range: Long 30/30 This can only be obtained by defeating a Dark Knight. It has a low durablity so do not plan on relying on this weapon as your main one. The Sword of Resentment Damage: 35 Speed: Fast Range: Short 75/75 This sword is very powerful, is quick, and fairly durable. The catch? Whenever you strike an enemy with it, the sword will also damage you as well, so use it with great caution. The Mourn Bringer Damage: 30(AP) Speed: Medium Range: Long Indestructible This is the second of the 3 indestructibles that you will find. Apart from its great power and durability, it also heals you when you hit an enemy with it! That makes it one of the best weapons in the game. The Runeblade Damage: 50(AP) Speed: Medium Range: Long Indestructible This is it! Your best weapon! it has tremendous power, it is the 3rd indestructible, and pierces armor! What's not to like about this sword? Unfortunately, it is the last weapon that you will get, and there will only be one final enemy to kill by the time you get it. ----------------------------------------------- 3b. Axes ----------------------------------------------- Duncan's Battle Axe Damage: 25 Speed: Slow Range: Medium 15/150 This will be the first axe that you will find in your adventure. It is like a Battle Axe, only it is far less durable. You won't be using it for long, but it will be the most powerful weapon in your arsenal during that time. Rusty Axe Damage: 12 Speed: Slow Range: Medium 35/75 This axe has a low durability, and a slow speed and mediocre range. By the time you get this, your Mithril Short Sword will be your main weapon, so it should be left alone. John the Monster's Axe Damage: 25 Speed: Slow Range: Medium 12/75 This axe is powerful, but will be the least durable weapon that you will find, so don't expect it to be used for too long. Battle Axe Damage: 25 Speed: Slow Range: Medium 150/150 This is your standard axe. If you like a powerful weapon that is a bit slow, then this is the weapon for you. Iron Battle Axe Damage: 25 Speed: Slow Range: Medium 50/50 Just like the Battle Axe, but less durable. Should be gotten rid of once you find a better axe. Mithril Axe Damage: 30(AP) Speed: Slow Range: Medium 150/150 This is a great axe. It does plenty of damage, and pierces armor. It should always be in your arsenal until either it breaks or you find a better axe. Axe of the Order Damage: 30(AP) Speed: Medium Range: Medium 75/75 This axe is like the Mithril Axe but faster, and with less durability. It should be used in the Mithril Axe's place once you get it. Vykruta's Axe Damage: 40 Speed: Slow Range: Long 42/150 This is arguably the best axe. With its high damage and long range, its only weakness is the durability and no armor piercing. However the best part is that it can make lightning bolts strike your enemies, causing a lot of damage. It can do this up to 25 times! Lightning Axe Damage: 30 Speed: Slow Range: Long 150/150 This is just like Vykruta's Axe, but with less power, and only 5 lightning strikes. But it is still a very strong weapon nevertheless, and can be used for a long time . The Cleaver Damage: 40(AP) Speed: Slow Range: Medium 150/150 This is the last axe that you will find, and possibly the best, with armor piercing and 40 damage. It is put to best use on tough but slow-moving enemies like Knights. ----------------------------------------------- 3c. Maces ----------------------------------------------- Club Damage: 7 Speed: Medium Range: Medium 25/25 This is the worst weapon in Drakan. Do not use this. Even Atimar's blade is better. Enough said. Mace Damage: 10 Speed: Medium Range: Medium 100/100 This weapon should be your secondary one during the early levels of the game. Mithril Short Sword should be your primary, however if you want a longer range at the cost of attack speed then use this. Mace of Hand Damage: 20(AP) Speed: Medium Range: Medium 150/150 This is a good mace, with armor piercing, and high durability. You should be using it the moment you pick it up. Death Mace Damage: 25(AP) Speed: Fast Range: Medium 150/150 This weapon is found in the later stages of the game, it has a weaker damage compared to other weapons found in that stage of the game, but is way faster, and you can pummel enemies repeatedly before they even have a chance to attack you. ----------------------------------------------- 3d. Hammers ----------------------------------------------- Iron Hammer Damage: 15 Speed: Slow Range: Long 25/25 This is the first hammer that you will find. It has a long range, but is not too durable and won't last you very long. Battle Hammer Damage: 30 Speed: Slow Range: Long 150/150 This weapon is superior to the axes in every way, so you should use it until it breaks. Unfortunately that should not be too long, because when you swing it, it has a higher chance of breaking because of its long reach. and wide attack area. Mithril Hammer Damage: 30(AP) Speed: Slow Range: Long 150/150 Just like the Battle Hammer but with armor piercing, so it should be used until you find something better. Grungle's Hammer Damage: 35(AP) Speed: Slow Range: Long 75/75 This weapon is awesome. It is not obtained easily however, but once you do, you have the best hammer in the game! Unfortunately the low durability means that it won't be around for very long. ----------------------------------------------- 3e. Bows and Arrows ----------------------------------------------- Longbow Damage: XXX 75/75 This will be your first bow, and you should keep it until you find a better one. Heavy Bow Damage: XXX 150/150 Just like the Longbow, but more durable. You should have a bow in your inventory at all times. Speed Bow Damage: XXX 75/75 This bow isn't as durable as the Heavy Bow, but can fire faster and more accurately. Energy Bow Damage: 25 50/50 This bow is different from other bows because it doesn't use ammunition, instead has an energy arrow quiver. Arrows Damage: 10 Your average, bog-standard arrows. You will find them everywhere during your adventure. Flaming Arrows Damage: 15 These arrows do more damage than normal arrows, and do additional fire damage when they hit. Ice Arrows Damage: 15 These arrows don't kill your enemy, merely freezes them so you can finish them off with a normal arrow. Magic Arrows Damage: 15 These arrows can home in on your target, making them very accurate. Poisonous Arrows Damage: 15 These can poison your enemies, doing additional damage when hit. Explosive Arrows Damage: 25 These arrows are my personal favorites. When you hit ANYTHING with them, they create an explosion that damages anything in its path. I once killed two goblins with one explosive arrow by aiming between them. ----------------------------------------------- 4. Guide to Armor ----------------------------------------------- These are the different types of armour found during Rynn's quest. Armor is very important because to reduces damage done to you. Chain Mail Armor Rating: 20 This armor will be found throughout the beginning of the game. Scale Mail Armor Rating: 30 A bit better than chainmail, this is found around the middle stages. Banded Mail Armor Rating: 40 This armor is found quite a while after Scale Mail. Plate Mail Armor Rating: 60 Probably your most used armor in the late stages of the game. Dragon Armor Armor Rating: 75 The coolest-looking and best armor. You need to complete a difficult quest to get it. ----------------------------------------------- 5. Guide to Other Equipment ----------------------------------------------- Here are some extra equipment that you will need to make your way around the land of Drakan. Health Elixir This common potion will heal a small portion of lost health. Potion of Life Rarer than the Elixir, this potion will fully heal you. Potion of Invisibility This potion will render you temporarily invisible, however your weapon will still show up. It is good for sneak attacks. Potion of Invulnerability. This very rare potion will make you fully resistant to enemy attacks for a brief period of time. Use it against the challenging bosses. Fire Crystal This crystal, when used, will cast a ring of fire much like the one cast by the Sword of Flame. It is quite rare, so use it wisely. Ice Crystal This crystal, when used, will cast a defensive ice shield when used, like the Sword of Ice. Lightning Crystal This crystal, when used, will cast a powerful lightning bolt that can zap multiple enemies like Vykruta's Axe. Keys Keys and runes can be used to open doors when used. They are usually guarded by some beast nearby, so don't expect to get one without a fight. ----------------------------------------------- 6.
