Is it dead?

Post by De bezetene »

No, it’s not dead.
It will survive as long as there are people who keep it alive.

People like me – and I write that without meaning that I am special.
Some weeks ago I just had the sudden urge of being into Drakan again.
I wasted three years with World of Warcraft, but then, on 24th December 2007 I banned it from my PC.
Then there were times where I left my PC out for days, etc. The standard crap.
And somewhat in May or so I started playing Drakan again and – as three and more years ago – started using the Level Editor.

What can I say? I unlearned nothing. So I decided to do that what I planned years ago and what I started over and over again.
I’m creating a new level!

Inspired by nothing but myself (and, to be honest, by some other created levels) I just started setting a layer and building a cathedral on it. Well… It’s more a bunker than a cathedral… Anyway… I started doing the cellar and in that moment the brilliant idea of making a two-floor-cellar rushed my head. Compared to earlier, where I sometimes said “Aaw, no, it’s too much workâ€

A new level! Something we haven't seen for a long time... Keep up the good work, sounds promising.

By the way... You can delete this "Brotherhood" thing from the upcoming levels page.

I asked the creator if he ever wanted to continue it and he said "Nah..."
That's because I am ... or even better ... I WAS the creator.

I haven't seen a new level in a while.

I eagerly anticipate this one.

I want to make some of my own too, but can't get the editor to work.

I'm not sure of the technical reasons behind the crashes.

But I'll tell you what happens.

1. Whenever I try to "preview" the level in the 3d window, it's blank.

2. When I try to look at "animated" objects (say, Arokh for example), the editor ALWAYS crashes.

Wow Its funny I just got a new PC - old one died.

Luckily i saved all the Drakan files and I hope hope hope I can get the game and editor to work on my new rig.

BTW, check the sticky for the fixes for 3d View buckmana, Drakon Rider has fixes for those Level Editor crashes.

hey there, just wanted to tell you that i'm not sure if i can continue the level series. i'm moving from northern germany to munich, which lies in the south. there i'm going to work all day long so i doubt i will have much time if i also want to play Age of Conan and still have something like real life ;)

But i definately keep on working.

Oooh, Age Of Conan.

That's dangerous territory to venture into.

From what I've been hearing, that game is a shocking waste of an mmo.

People get bored quickly and it's ill concieved.
